Angel as a Counselor Educator
Angel’s Passion For Education
“I’ve always been drawn to teaching, starting with my years as a lifeguard and water safety instructor teaching hundreds of young children to swim. I also earned my secondary education degree to teach English, yet was also interested in psychology and helping others, so I earned a M.S. in Clinical Psychology. Then while leading a group therapy session with adolescents, I found myself writing the words, “I want to teach college” during an activity.
My search for the right PhD program led me to a path that perfectly blended my love for education, mental health, and school counseling. Becoming a counselor educator felt like a natural extension of the work I’d been doing for years—just in a new and deeply rewarding way.
Now, I get to work with students who have enormous hearts and a genuine passion for helping others. Guiding future counselors is one of the most fulfilling parts of my career, and I’m honored to be part of their journey.”

Director of Counselor Education
“Culver-Stockton College—also affectionately known as “The Hill”—is more than just my alma mater; it’s home. Being part of this community of faculty, staff, and students feels like being surrounded by family, and I’m grateful every day to serve in a place that means so much to me.
As the Director of Counselor Education, I’ve had the privilege of building our graduate counseling program from the ground up. It’s designed to be flexible and accessible, with a primarily online format and meaningful in-person residency experiences. Watching our students grow during the program is inspiring—but what I truly cherish is the mentorship that continues long after they graduate.
As a counselor, I can touch the lives of a limited number of clients. But as an educator, I get to help shape the next generation of helpers—and that ripple effect is where I feel I’m making the greatest impact.”
